Big 12 tomfoolery

Tom Osborne, who’s on the CFP committee, says a 13th game matters. (NewsOK)

If the Big 12 does splinter again, Oklahoma State can safely assume it will end up wherever Oklahoma does. Those two schools have a good relationship, considering they’re in-state rivals and though it’s not impossible for OU to extricate itself and go to a new conference, OSU is still a strong program with a decent-sized fan base and Oklahoma wouldn’t have much motivation to try and leave the Pokes behind. It certainly doesn’t seem like expansion would cost very much. (SB Nation)

Mel Kipes has Ogbah as the No. 2 underclassman DE (behind Joey Bosa): Get familiar with Ogbah. He started strong last year with two sacks in a close loss to then-No. 1 Florida State, and finished with 11.0 overall. He has the prototypical 4-3 DE frame at 275 pounds, but he’ll show out-of-a-cannon quickness. Out-of-a-cannon! (ESPN Insider)

Mason Rudolph

Ranked No. 17 among college QBs. (Sports on Earth)

Why is everyone so excited about Mason Rudolph? Stats were 57% completion and 6 touchdowns to 4 interceptions. That’s very average at best, yet many think they are a dark horse to win the Big 12 because of this guy? What am I missing? (ESPN)

Hoops misc.

Jawun Evans sounds great … I’m just not sure who he’s going to pass to next year. (NewsOK)

Though I will say Jeff Newberry looks nice here.

Marketing has changed, but someone forgot to tell the inside-the-beltway power brokers. Brands aren’t built the way they used to be, but politicians insist on the impatient churn-and-burn mass market awareness that even Procter & Gamble is choosing to leave behind. (Godin)
