OSU Freshman Darrion Daniels: ‘I want to be the Big 12 freshman of the year’

Darrion Daniels signed with Oklahoma State in February and joined the Cowboys as the highest ranking prospect in the 2015 recruiting class. The defensive tackle from Bishop Dunne, TX, held 31 scholarship offers and kept his recruitment close to the vest, surprising many by choosing OSU over OU, Baylor, Iowa, Texas Tech and others.

“I feel like I can really prove myself at Oklahoma State. When people say you’re going to lose, I want to prove to them that I can win,” Daniels told Bleacher Report after his commitment in late January. “I want to make Oklahoma State D-Line U. I want to be the guy to start the trend,” he said.

Daniels talked Wednesday with Brandon Chatmon and had a really awesome question and answer session. “My goal is to make an immediate impact, come in early and do what I can. My job for the older guys on the line, is to come in and make their jobs a lot easier. Like Emmanuel Ogbah, I want to be able to go in and take a lot of pressure off of him, so my freshman year just come in and take attention off the regular lineman we have so they can make more plays.”

It’s pretty clear he has a strong head on his shoulders. And his goals he already has for his career at Oklahoma State should get the fans pumped.

“I want to be the Big 12 freshman of the year, that’s something I want to do. I was talking to my pops and he believes I can do anything I put my mind to and he told me “You have to think about it though. You have Malik Jefferson at Texas, you have this guy, that guy…”

“Long term goal, I want to win a championship. First two years a Big 12 championship. By the fifth year, I want to be in a national championship. Like I said, we have a young team and that young team is going to get bigger, going to get better. That is the long term goal: Win a national championship at Oklahoma State.

Chills.
