Oklahoma State starting punter Zach Sinor underwent surgery to repair a hernia last Tuesday with an unknown return date. However an updated timeline laid out by Mike Gundy could put him back into action ahead of the season opener.

Speaking with the media on Tuesday for the first time since PFB’s initial report, Gundy was optimistic that Sinor should be back in roughly two weeks. In two weeks and two days, OSU will open up its season against Missouri State.

“He should be up and running in two weeks,” Gundy said of Sinor. “When you have that type of injury you can’t ever tell, but I feel good with where we’re at there. We’re fine.”

Sinor started all 13 games last season for the Pokes, logging 38 total punts and averaging 43.1 yards per boot. In total, he recorded five touchbacks.

In Sinor’s absence, redshirt senior Matt Hockett stands to gain the majority of reps in camp moving forward. Hockett logged punts of 49 and 43 yards last season, but hasn’t served in a regular capacity since arriving on campus in 2014.
