One week after peaking its head into the top 15 and officially going on dark horse darling watch for 2018, Oklahoma State turned in a dud in its conference opener, falling (quickly) to Texas Tech at home.

OSU, who didn’t debut in the AP top 25 until Week 3, fell completely out of the poll after Saturday’s result. The Cowboys only fell to No. 21 in the Coaches poll.

Here’s a look at the AP top 25 heading into Week 5.

Oklahoma State was the fifth team out based on votes, essentially coming in at No. 30, behind Boise State, who was two spots ahead of it.

Upset Saturday

Oklahoma State was one of seven ranked teams to take an L on Saturday, but it was also one of five to be upset by unranked opponents.

No. 23 Boston College fell to unranked Purdue 30-13. No. 17 TCU lost to the surging (?) unranked Longhorns. Nos. 14 Mississippi State and 13 Virginia Tech were both upended by unranked Kentucky and Old Dominion.

No big upsets ahead of Oklahoma State. No. 5 Oklahoma got all it could handle from Army with a thrilling overtime game (that no one paid to watch).

Big 12 Shakeup

Texas Tech debuted at No. 25 after blowing out OSU. TCU is also out of the top 25 after losing to Texas who is in now at No. 18. West Virginia stood pat at No. 12 and Oklahoma dropped one spot to No. 6 after the overtime win against Army.
