OSU is the Favorite for 3-Star DT Handsome Tanielu

One of the top ranked defensive tackles in the junior college ranks, Handsome Tanielu, is quickly realizing OSU as a favorite in his recruitment. Tanielu is a 6-foot-3 prospect weighing in at a whopping 310 pounds from Snow College – the same college OSU picked up former defensive tackle standout Ofa Hautau.

Tanielu has his choice of the litter, holding offers from OSU, Missouri, Penn State, Utah and several others. But it’s the Cowboys who are making a push as a favorite for the highly regarded prospect.

“I have visited there (OSU) a few times,” he told Derek Young of Scout. “I loved it there. I love the program. I will probably end up committing there soon to be honest. It’s the top school out of all the options I currently have. I love everything they stand for. It’s a young team bound for greatness.”

Tanielu also said the culture around Stillwater and other factors made OSU surge atop his list. “They have awesome facilities and it’s just a pretty place,” Tanielu said. “They have a supportive alumni base. It’s a place that would be great for a few years, but it would also be beneficial for me for the next decades. They have a solid defensive line, and they also present the opportunity of playing with other polynesian guys.”

OSU currently has a few Polynesian players with the likes of Sione Palelei, Vili Leveni, Lemaefe Galea’I and newcomer Motekiai Maile. Could Tanielu join the ranks of an already impressive Polynesian group in Stillwater?

Tip of the cap to Garrett Wales for the find.
