OSU Recruiting: A Rundown of Who Visited for the Spring Scrimmage

A look back on the weekend that was in the world of OSU crootin.

Oklahoma State hosted a number of football recruits on campus this weekend for its spring practice finale on Saturday and for unofficial visits. Of the dozens, only three — Corey Flagg Jr., Matt Polk and Jeremiah Harris — were on site for officials.

Official visits are the guaranteed red carpet treatment for recruits, as the program provides food, housing and travel for the recruit and a select number of family in attendance.

So who are Flagg, Polk and Harris? And who joined them on campus for unofficials? Here’s a rundown of who they are, which class they are and where they rank.

• 2020 ??? LB Corey Flagg Jr.: Flagg is a stout 5-10, 223-pound inside backer from Houston’s North Shore who has more than a dozen offers but three that stand out: Texas Tech, OSU and Boston College. OSU defensive coordinator Jim Knowles has been in on Flagg since February.

• 2020 ??? LB Jeremiah Harris: A Pearland (Shadow Creek HS) product, Harris has 16 offers including from OSU, Arkansas and Colorado. OSU was his first Power 5 offer back last December.

• 2020 ??? WR Matt Polk: Polk is a whopping 6-4, 210-pound receiver who has UCLA, Cal, Arizona and OSU offers among many. OSU has a shot here despite geography playing against it for the Scottsdale, Arizona native. This is his first official visit.

• 2021 S Kendal Daniels: A 6-foot-2, 180-pound safety from Beggs, Oklahoma, Daniels is fast-emerging as the premier athlete in the state in 2021. He has OSU, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Arkansas offers.

• 2021 ???? DE Landyn Watson: 2021 Hutto, Texas standout who has LSU, Texas Tech, Michigan State and a slew of other quality high major offers. OSU appears to be the frontrunner. (It’s still very early!) OSU offered last June.

• 2020 ??? LB Robert Wooten: 6-3, 230-pound outside linebacker from Stafford, Texas. Has a dozen offers including SMU, Texas Tech and Virginia Tech. OSU hasn’t gone there … yet.

• 2021 ???? RB Javion Hunt: Hunt and the aforementioned Daniels are going to be nationally-known recruits in no time; Hunt might be a five-star by the time it’s said and done (I think Daniels will be, too). Hunt is a 6-foot, 200-pound athlete/running back from Carl Albert.

• 2021 ???? TE Ethan Downs: Yes, another in-state star. Downs is from Weatherford, Oklahoma. OSU offered last summer and his recruitment has taken off since. Baylor, Nebraska, Penn State and Iowa State have also entered the picture. OU might be next.

• 2020 commits: All five OSU commitments in the class — LB Cole Thompson, LB Brynden Walker, OL Eli Russ, DT Grant Mahon and CB Jabbar Muhammad — were on campus for unofficials. Walker was offered by OU a day before his visit.

• 2020 ??? CB Korie Black: A 6-1, 165-pound corner from Waco, Texas who has OSU, K-State, Baylor and Colorado on his trail. OSU offered all the way back in July of 2017 (!!). He came with teammate Trent Pullen, a recent offensive line target to emerge under new OL coach Charlie Dickey. Pullen, like Black, is a three-star recruit. 6-3, 275-pound bully.

• 2020 ??? TE Blake Smith: Smith was offered earlier this month by OSU shortly after a long-time target committed to Arkansas. Intriguing prospect who at 6-4, 247 pounds could be a potential matchup nightmare from the Cowboy Back position.

• 2021 DE Shemar Turner: Arguably the most swaggy of all recruits on campus this weekend. Turner, a 6-4, 260-pound edge rusher from DeSoto, Texas, has held an OSU offer since Jan. 29.

• 2021 DT Gabriel Rubio: Rubio is a 6-6, 288-pound defensive tackle who came to town without an OSU offer and left one with one. Fast riser. His physical profile is insane (he also runs a 5.22 40-yard dash according to 247, which seems about as fast as … James Castleman?)
