OSU Takes a Hit in the Polls, Drops to No. 15 after Loss to TCU

Oklahoma State suffered a tough home loss in its Big 12 opener and its position in the polls reflected as much. It’s still very early in the year, and several moving pieces have yet to settle as college football’s landscape takes shape.

But Week 4 is in the books. Let’s take a look.

Who jumped up?

The biggest winners of Week 4 start with a familiar game around these parts. TCU jumped from No. 16 to No. 9 after ruining OSU’s Big 12 opener. Georgia also leapfrogged some teams with its 31-3 win over Mississippi State. West Virginia jumped into the top 25 for the first time this season after its win over Kansas. The Mountaineers have won three straight since a close opening loss to now No. 12 Virginia Tech. Notre Dame also creeped into the No. 22 spot.

Who dropped off?

Aside from Oklahoma State, some other ranked teams took a loss in Week 4. Florida State made the biggest drop but after dropping its conference opener to NC State. The Seminoles at 0-2 represent the only winless team in the rankings with some credit for a competitive showing against Alabama before starting QB Deondre Francois went down with injury. Mississippi State also dropped after a loss 31-3 loss to Georgia.

The Pokes only dropped to No. 14 in the Coaches Poll.
