Schedule predictions: Second three games
Tech, Iowa State, and Kansas highlight the softest stretch of Big 12 games the Pokes will face this season. Going anything less than 3-0 would be pretty disappointing.
Predictions of the first three games
Once Oklahoma State gets through the Florida State gauntlet and handles Missouri State and UTSA then the real season begins.
No matter what happened in those first three games you can, at this point, still win the conference crown and make it to a big-boy bowl game (possibly even the playoffs).
Let’s get to the second three games on the schedule.
Texas Tech
Home on September 24 (Thursday)
I believe I’ll be attending this one and it should be a gem. Texas Tech shouldn’t be that great but they might be crazier than a Miley Cyrus-Jesse Pinkman (the character, not the actor) love child which means getting them at home on a Thursday night will be wild and fun and Mike Holder might want to invest in a company that makes new scoreboards.
As a program OSU is just better than Tech is right now — deeper, stronger, more consistent. That doesn’t mean Tech won’t win but I think Old Gundy > New Gundy
Prediction:Â OSU by seven
Record: 3-1
Iowa State
Home on October 4
I do love getting the Cyclones at home if only because it means I don’t have to see a psychiatrist about the PTSD I experience when I flip on my TV and see a bunch of orange running around Jack Trice.
I keep hearing that Paul Rhoads is a good coach — and I actually do like him quite a bit — but his records at Iowa State by year are as follows:
7-6
5-7
6-7
6-7
3-9
I didn’t ace statistics in college but I believe that’s trending in the incorrect direction.
Prediction: OSU by 14.
Record: 4-1
Kansas
Lawrence on October 11
Prediction: Pokes by 21
Record: 5-1
We haven’t reached the “omg did David Boren or Joe Castiglione make this schedule” portion of the schedule yet, but it’s coming.
