The Big 12 released a pretty comprehensive list of awards on Sunday night but I think they missed a few players and teams in the process. And given their history of picking great games I think it’s best that I just come up with my own anyway.

Without further ado here were the 10 best (I define “best” as “yes, I remember that game, it meant something, it was awesome”) games of the Big 12 season (including a couple of classics involving Oklahoma State).

1. Oklahoma State beats Kansas 85-80 in Lawrence – The game of the year for sure. Only way it would have been bigger is if it would have been in late February/early March for the Big 12 crown.

2. Kansas beats Iowa State 108-96 in OT in Ames – When I think of this season in 10 years I probably won’t remember anything I’ll remember this game above all the others. You know there’s the me of Iowa State basketball out there who’s watched this thing once every other night since it happened. He’ll either write a book or destroy the Internet when he’s done mourning.

3. Texas beats OU 92-86 in OT in Austin – Probably the craziest game of the year. The lesson as always, don’t go horns down until after the game is over.

4. Kansas beats Oklahoma State 68-67 in 2OT in Stillwater – Totally swung the Big 12 race. If OSU wins they’re co-champs with K-State and the #1 seed in Kansas City for the Big 12 tournament.

5. TCU beats Kansas 62-55 in Ft. Worth – Potentially the game of the year on Twitter. All my great college basketball follows were up watching, not really believing until there were like 10 seconds left.

6. Kansas State beats Baylor 64-61 in Waco – Speaking of fans who are upset. Your team has the ball with one second left and a tie game…and you lose.

7. Oklahoma State beats Baylor 69-67 in OT in Stillwater – Featured the dunk of the year (Jefferson on Smart) and the finish of the year (Markel coast-to-coast). Hoping for less drama tomorrow night.

8. Kansas beats Iowa State 97-89 in OT in Lawrence – Ben McLemore probably did many, many river dances after this one. Banks open late on Monday nights in Lawrence.

9. Oklahoma beats Kansas 72-66 in Norman – Kansas was on tilt but still a great, great win for OU in Norman.

10. Oklahoma State beats Oklahoma 84-79 in OT in Stillwater – Better than the Iowa State game at home for OSU. One of the best Bedlam games in a long time actually.

Just missed the cut: Texas over ISU in 2OT (ISU took 80 shots), Kansas State over OSU in Manhattan, OU over Baylor in Waco, Oklahoma State over Iowa State in Stillwater, TCU over OU in Ft. Worth.
