Andy Katz wrote a piece on Andrew Wiggins on Wednesday where he asked various Big 12 coaches what they thought about Wiggins coming to KU.

There was the usual “it’s great for the league” even though what I really mean is “oh —-” stuff. Scott Drew weighed in with: Big 12 fans will get a special year next season.

Fred Hoiberg said: he’s the best high school player who has come around in a long time.

Then Katz posted this text message from Ford:

Andrew Wiggins immediately makes any team and league better! Wiggins is an exciting player that all [Big] 12 fans will enjoy watching! Also, this definitely makes Kansas a top 5 team in the country! Loaded with enormous incoming talent and many talented returners!

I love the immediate deferral of KU as a top five team. Self and Ford are going to escalate their compliments of each other to the point both will be calling the other school’s team “one of of the best college basketball teams of all time” by November.

I also love the exclamation points. Oh, those exclamation points[1. Side not here: I could go on for 5,000 words about people who overuse the exclamation point in text messages. Let’s just say, I’m not really close friends with anyone who does it. If you do it early on in our friendship, I start asking a LOT of questions.].

What if I texted Travis Ford about what he did today?

I ate a turkey sandwich from Red Rock for lunch! Then I watched some film of Iowa State! They really shoot well! Fred Hoiberg! Hilton!
