Week 8 Prop Bets

Our resident podcast/gambling novice, Matty Amilian, will be bringing you this fun little fake gambling post from here on out for the rest of the Big 12 schedule. Enjoy!

I raked it in last week, pulling in a smooth $90 in Heidi Montag currency. I banked on OSU not covering and Texas Tech pulling off the upset.

Who’s fired up for an 11:00 a.m. kickoff?!  Not this guy, but at least we have football at BPS again. This week’s lines include Lunt, uniforms and house decorations. Before we start, here’s a fun tidbit: Baylor is winless in Big 12 play and is an 8.5 underdog this week. Okay, place your bets!

1) OSU -14 vs Iowa State

Big number, and I wouldn’t touch it with real money. Early in the week I thought “There’s no way Lunt isn’t starting. This line will fall to 10 or 11, and I’ll pick it up for our weekly parlay.” It appears I might be incorrect on both accounts.

2) OSU-Iowa State Over/Under: 60 points

This is the best defense will have played up to this point in the season. I didn’t expect to be saying that on October 19th, but you can’t convince me I’m wrong. When is the last time an O/U for an OSU game has dipped below 60?

3) Who wins: Texas Tech or TCU?

Huge home win for the Red Raiders last week and TCU pulled off a blowout win on the road in Waco. These are very two evenly matched teams (as the line shows). How many of you will get sucked in by the blowout of the Mountaineers? I’m taking the Horned Frogs here, but for what it’s worth, I suck at picking against the spread.

4) Which will be greater: The number of starts Wes Lunt makes Saturday or the number of gray items in our uniform combo?

Take my same Wes Lunt thought from #1 and apply it again here. On the uniforms, I’m hoping for black-gray-black, but one would think orange will be applied for homecoming.

5) Which will be greater: Total Kickoff Return Yards for Justin Gilbert or Total Points Scored in the Texas-Baylor game?

The stats I found show OSU is averaging 87.8 kickoff return yards per game this year, which would be fine if our defense was keeping teams from kicking off. Gilbert has to house one this year eventually, right? RIGHT?

6) Which fraternity/sorority duo will win best house decoration? AGR/Chi-Omega or Other?

Don’t be offended if you’re an alumnus of or current student in an “other” fraternity or sorority. This is based solely on the fact that AGR always seems to have one of the top house decs every year.

Get your bets in here (there are some gimmes now).

One little side note, our tailgate won’t be set up Saturday so if you’d like to invite me by for a pre or post game beverage, you can do so on Twitter —> @mattamilian
