Haterz (and Loverz)
Big thanks to one of my readers (Kaleb Stuckey) for putting together this graph for us. He put together a progressive power rankings graph for about 25 ESPN personalities and where they had OSU ranked each week. I’ve whittled it down to the 10 or so that you know. Click on the image to enlarge. A few thoughts after the jump.
A few random thoughts on this…
Big props to Dari Nowkhah (an OU alum) for paying his respects to the Cowboys all year.
It’s humorous to me that Bruce Feldman got one vote in before ESPN effectively sent him on his way. Credible journalism be damned!
Ditto for Pat Forde, but at least he got seven votes in.
That weird jump back after week 5 happened because OSU had a bye week and Wisconsin thumped Nebraska at home. Out of sight, out of mind…and such. Now Bucky is fighting Texas to stay in the top 20.
Ivan Maisel = haterz.
We all love to get worked up over which media personalities are “in love” with this team or that team, but I can tell you first hand these guys (and gals) don’t care one way or another about OSU. Your occasional Dari might have a somewhat-vested interest because he’s from Oklahoma, but other than that, nada.
Media members root for stories. If that means “rags-to-richesBoone in 7 years: the Oklahoma State tale as spun by Tom Rinaldi”, then that’s what the media is rooting for.
In the end, none of this really matters (especially since we all know Thayer has had OSU at #120 of 120 all year), but it’s kind of fun to look at who had the Pokes in what position for the entirety of the season.
