Hoops Recruiting: Avery Anderson, Mario McKinney Name OSU in Top Schools
OSU is on the short lists of a couple of talented 2019 backcourt prospects.
Two Class of 2019 top-200 prospects who hold offers from Oklahoma State named the Cowboys inside their newly-trimmed list of top schools this week.
The first to announce was Mario McKinney, a three-star combo guard from Saint Louis who has OSU in his final seven. The second came Wednesday night when Avery Anderson, a four-star combo guard, put OSU in his final five.
Avery Anderson | 6-2, 152
The outlook: OSU has been on Anderson’s radar for quite some time, but things really got serious after he visited on an unofficial basis in early June. Since then, things have shaken out so well for OSU that it appears it may now be the favorite over LSU.
National ranking: 66
Positional ranking: 8
Contenders: OSU, TCU, LSU, Texas Tech and Florida.
Mario McKinney | 6-2, 180
The outlook: For the second consecutive cycle, OSU is chasing a Saint Louis standout in McKinney after finishing runner-up in the Courtney Ramey sweepstakes. McKinney picked up an OSU offer at Peach Jam after impressing OSU coaches in person, and he fits the billing of a combo guard who can play on or off the ball that Boynton seeks.
National ranking: 137
Positional ranking: 8
Contenders: OSU, Missouri, Auburn, Louisville, VCU, Kansas State and Iowa State.
