10 Stats from Oklahoma State’s Season-Opening Win against Tulsa

Usually in these posts, I’m trying to decide which gaudy offensive number of OSU’s to post. There wasn’t a whole lot of that today.

With that said, here are 10 interesting stats from Oklahoma State’s 16-7 victory against Tulsa.

42: This is the 42nd time OSU has beaten Tulsa. The win brings the Cowboys’ record against the Golden Hurricane to 42-27-5.

16: That’s the fewest number of points OSU has scored in a nonconference game since the 2009 Cotton Bowl when the Cowboys lost to Ole Miss 21-7.

16: This is the 16th time in the Gundy era that OSU has held an opponent to 7 or fewer points.

11: Chuba Hubbard’s NCAA-best 11-game streak of 100 rushing yards was snapped. Hubbard finished the day with 94 yards on 27 carries.

23: The 23 total points in Saturday’s game is the lowest in an OSU-Tulsa game since 1991, a game Tulsa won 13-7.

3: This is the third game in the Mike Gundy era that OSU has won despite scoring less than 20 points. The other two were the Cowboys’ 13-10 win against Texas in 2017 and Gundy’s debut 15-10 win against Montana State in 2005.

40: OSU corner Rodarius Williams has made 40 consecutive starts, the longest active streak among FBS defensive backs.

34: Dillon Stoner’s 34-yard punt return in the second quarter is the longest in his career thus far.

14,668: The COVID-reduced crowd of 14,668 is the fewest number of people in attendance at an OSU home game since OSU’s 1967 game against Kansas State when 12,500 people were in attendance.
