2016 Cornerback Madre Harper Will Enroll Early

Cornerback prospect and long time Oklahoma State verbal pledge Madre Harper is one of four cornerbacks committed to the Pokes in the 2016 recruiting class.

On Friday, Harper had a blocked punt, blocked field goal, and an interception in his teams 38-14 victory. He has yet to sign his letter of intent with the Cowboys, but he tells the Tulsa World that he plans to enroll early, thanks in part to him being ahead in school and taking summer classes.

“Getting that step ahead in the weight room and getting on the program,” Harper said.

Being one of several cornerbacks in his recruiting class, Harper could utilize his extra time in the program to get an edge on the rest of the cornerbacks entering the program later in the summer. He will compete with guys like Ramon Richards, Ashton Lampkin, Darius Curry, Chris Hardeman and others for playing time early on.

Harper has tremendous upside, standing at 6-foot-3 and 170 pounds. But his time early in the program will be very beneficial to get his playing weight up. If he can put some weight on and learn quickly, he could be a big impact freshman who will be one of several defensive backs forced into action early in his career.
