2019 In-State Defensive End Collin Clay Names OSU In Top 5 Schools

2019 defensive end prospect Collin Clay out of Putnam City High School in Oklahoma City named Oklahoma State in his top five schools on Sunday along with Georgia, Arkansas, TCU and Oregon.

His new list is a trim from a recent top 10 he announced back in March down to five, which eliminated Florida, Michigan, Colorado, North Carolina and Duke from consideration.

Clay is a 6-foot-3, 261-pound recruit who, according to 247Sports, has garnered close to 20 scholarship offers from across the country, but notably missing from his offer sheet is Oklahoma, which hasn’t — and doesn’t appear to be — nearing an offer to him.

Clay made an unofficial visit to Oklahoma State in late-April, and OSU’s staff has been in constant communication for well over a year after extending him one of his first Div. I opportunities in May of 2017. That should bode well for OSU’s chances, as should the fact that there has been no coaching turnover on the OSU staff, with defensive line coach Joe Bob Clements long maintaining a relationship with him.

As a junior last season, Clay tallied 58 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks, and two pass deflections, shining for Putnam City and marking himself as a premier recruit in the state. Oklahoma State would love nothing more than to keep him in-state and have him wearing orange and black both in high school and in college.
