Barry J. Sanders is Coming
The summer has officially arrived. Most of OSU’s 2016 class has already arrived on campus, except for one heralded graduate transfer who has been working toward graduation.
Barry J. Sanders, whom you may have heard of, officially graduated from Stanford University over the weekend. Sanders has agreed to join the Cowboys this fall and, since he has finally graduated, will join OSU soon for summer workouts and begin preparation of his 2016 Heisman Trophy Season final year of eligibility in Stillwater.
Sanders rushed for 672 yards on 115 attempts during his four-year career in Palo Alto, and although he was generally effective on the field he was never able to convert his production into meaningful playing time. The 5-foot-10, 200-pound back from OKC could be in line to make a big impact this upcoming season, however. OSU lost walk-on Raymond Taylor in the offseason, who became one of OSU’s most productive backs last season. They return senior tailbacks Rennie Childs and Chris Carson, along with a handful of young talent. And Sanders has as good a chance as any to come in and make an immediate impact with his experience and unique skillset that should play off both veterans Carson and Childs well.
