Jeff Carroll No Longer Withheld from Play, to Make Debut on Monday

OSU’s leading returning scorer will be back in action on Monday evening as the Pokes take on No. 16 Texas A&M in Brooklyn.

Oklahoma State officially announced what the Tulsa World’s Mark Cooper reported on Friday, that Jeff Carroll will no longer be withheld from competition after missing the first three games during an investigation into his amateur status and whether it had been compromised after allegedly taking a meeting with Lamont Evans and a financial adviser during the 2016 season.

This was the expected outcome last week, and Carroll sent a pretty obvious tweet alluding to this possibility on Friday. That means OSU gets its best player back just in time for its biggest game to date.

Even better, Doug Gottlieb reported that OSU feels confident Carroll never received money stemming from the FBI probe, and Mike Boynton had no knowledge of the alleged meeting that went down between Carroll, Lamont Evans and a financial adviser.

So all of this is good news, really. Boynton’s hands appear to be clean, Jeff Carroll’s hands are still filled with one season of eligibility, and OSU is as close to full strength as it has been all season.

Whether that bodes well for Boynton’s squad tonight as he returns to his hometown is yet to be seen, but OSU will welcome the offense from Carroll on Monday evening as the team looks to build on its 3-0 record.
