Oklahoma State Unveils New $60 Million Baseball Stadium Set for 2020

The longest-standing rumor in the history of Oklahoma State athletics has come to fruition. Kind of. Oklahoma State announced on Thursday that it has already started work on a new $60 million baseball facility, which is set to open in 2020.

The announcement was jointly made by Mike Holder, Josh Holliday and several others affiliated with OSU baseball, and the plans show a facility that will be placed on the corner of Washington Street and McElroy Road.

It will be a family friendly facility (as you can see from the photos below), and it will make Allie P. look like the Colvin annex by comparison.

“The stadium will be a physical manifestation of Oklahoma State University’s commitment to excellence in baseball,” said Mike Holder, who also put a $60 million (but probably more like $75 million) price tag on the project.

“The tradition of OSU baseball plus the leadership of Josh Holliday and Rob Walton gave life to the fundraising campaign. Thank you to all the generous donors who have made this dream a reality,” Holder said. “This is a special day for our baseball program.  A day to pay homage to the past, dream big about the future, and realize that all things are possible at OSU.”

The facility will be designed by the same folks — Jim Hasenbeck and Joshua Hill of Studio Architecture — who designed the football practice facility and tennis center.

Other amenities:
– A 2,000-square foot video board
– A parking lot that accommodates about 600 vehicles beyond center field
– Space designated for hosting game-day birthday parties and group functions
– Natural grass playing surface

“Our vision was to build a facility that would allow us to develop players at the highest level, teach leadership concepts and principles, embrace the team concept and provide a first-class experience for our loyal fans and alumni,” said Josh Holliday.

“When we set out to do this, we wanted to do it with our Stillwater community in mind and capture the same game day passion we see on display each Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium and throughout the winter at Gallagher-Iba Arena. The end result was exactly what we wanted. We accomplished our goal, and it is beyond anything I could have envisioned.”
