Where Oklahoma State’s 2018 Basketball Recruiting Class Ranks

Oklahoma State made a big splash on the recruiting trail Friday, landing top-150 point guard Isaac Likekele — OSU’s highest-rated prospect — to put a bow on the 2018 recruiting class.

Though there remains one open scholarship ahead of next season, Mike Boynton appears content with keeping it open with the obvious possibility that a big-name mid-year transfer might look towards Stillwater for their future.

So with the 2018 class in the books, and most programs all but complete, too, let’s take a look at where OSU finished in the recruiting rankings in Mike Boynton’s first full recruiting class.

Rivals

National rank: 43

Big 12 rank: 6

Analysis: Rivals has OSU’s class as the No. 43 overall class in 2018 and the sixth best in the Big 12, behind Kansas (6), Texas (9), Iowa State (26), Texas Tech (29) and TCU (30). OSU’s class is just ahead of West Virginia, which ranks 46th, as well as Baylor (77), OU (78) and Kansas State (82).

247Sports

National rank: 51

Big 12 rank: 7

Analysis: 247Sports isn’t quite as generous as Rivals, as it has OSU’s 2018 class ranked 51st. The only dramatic difference that generates that disparity, from what I see, is that Kentrevious Jones, who will be a freshman in the fall for the Cowboys, was originally a 2017 prospect and 247 hasn’t flipped him to his new classification after a prep year.

Nonetheless, 247 has OSU seventh in the Big 12 rankings behind Kansas (5), Texas (8), Iowa State (26), West Virginia (30), Texas Tech (33) and TCU (37). Baylor trails the Cowboys’ class at 64, and Kansas State (100) and OU (113) bring up the caboose.

Rivals doesn’t have historical data attached to its rankings, but 247 does. So for comparisons sake, here’s a look at how the 2018 class stacks up with others since 2010.
