Austin Harris Wins Junior Pan American Title at 97 KG
Greco U.S. Open champ and Oklahoma State redshirt freshman Austin Harris added a second title to his summer resume. He’s now not only a U.S. Open champ, he’s also a Junior Pan American gold medal winner.
Austin is in Fortaleza, Brazil wrestling at the Junior Pan American Championships this weekend, and the Greco tournament was contested on Friday. He dominated, picking up a quick 9-0 tech fall in his first match over 2017 Junior Pan American bronze medalist Bryan Cruz Palacios of Peru.

He then followed it up with a 41-second fall over Gabriel Rocha De Lira of Brazil to lock down the gold and pick up his first international tournament title. His final match happened so quickly that USA Wrestling even missed it.

This is a big tournament win for Austin. The success he’s had this summer should carry over some in folk style and prove very beneficial for him. The rest of the tournament continues this weekend. Austin will be wrestling freestyle here as well.
With the help of Austin’s gold the U.S. picked up the team title here as well.
