Beaty Praises Justice

This from KU coach David Beaty on Justice Hill was ?

“If I’m an NFL GM, I’m putting that dude at the top of my draft order. He’s a really, really good football player. He’s a durable back. The yards after first contact is something we haven’t seen. There were three or four different times, he stopped in the hole and made a complete 360. Our guys were in position, but he’s just very elusive. He does a lot of interesting things that a lot of people’s bodies don’t allow them to do.

“It would seem to me Coach Gundy made a commitment to feeding one of the best players in the country.” [NewsOK]

It’s hard to parse through all the coach BS because you don’t know if a coach is just trying to pump a guy up to make himself or his team look better to their fans or administration, but that’s a big boy quote.

Judge Throws Out SI Lawsuit

I found this pretty fascinating.

An Oklahoma City judge threw out the lawsuit Sept. 21, after reviewing dozens of pleadings, transcripts and exhibits. An appeal is planned.

In a 15-page order, U.S. District Judge Timothy DeGiusti noted that the reporters recorded their interviews. “The audio recordings … establish that they accurately reported what OSU football players named in the article said about being overpaid for work, being paid for sham work, being paid for speaking engagements, and staying on plaintiff’s property rent-free,” the judge wrote. [NewsOK]

It notes that Zac Robinson was once paid $300 for “speaking in Oklahoma City,” which made me laugh for some reason. The quotation marks more than anything. Anyway, it sounds like the lawsuit should be against the people who said the things, not the outlet that reported them.

OSU and NCAA News

Justin Phillips is a workhorse … On how sweeping has helped Tylan Wallace … Four Big 12 soccer teams are ranked, and Oklahoma State is one of them … Good Kamryn Farrar Q&A here …Will TC finish third in the conference in passing yards? … The ISU game could tell us if this is 2013 or 2014.

Interesting.
