Bowl Projections: Pokes Need One Win in Three Games to See Postseason
For all the … Cheez-Its?
What felt like a bit of an afterthought after Oklahoma State’s thrilling 3-point win over Texas on Homecoming has become a little more dicey following their loss as a TD favorite at Baylor.
The Cowboys, currently 5-4 and on the outside looking in at the bowl picture, are heavy dogs this week and will likely be so again next week against West Virginia. They could (and probably will) be 5-6 going to TCU on Thanksgiving weekend looking for victory No. 6.
So let’s see where a variety of national publications have them pegged for the postseason as Mike Gundy and Co. try to reach a bowl for the 13th straight year.
ESPN 1:Â Liberty Bowl (South Carolina)
ESPN 2: Liberty Bowl (Texas A&M)
USA Today:Â Texas Bowl (Colorado)
SI:Â Liberty Bowl (Missouri)
SB Nation: Cheez-It Bowl (Cal)
CBS:Â Cheez-It Bowl (Arizona State)
It’s pretty interesting to me that no outlet has OSU losing out over its final three games. All five of them predict OSU to get to that six-win threshold and into the postseason. That’s probably (I guess?) the safe bet, but guessing what this OSU team is going to do in this season is kinda like playing roulette with a color-blind friend.
This weekend’s opportunity is the same as 2014’s. Go to Norman with five wins as a more-than-2-TD dog looking to punch your ticket for Phoenix or Memphis or wherever. OSU hitting that history once was a thrill (obviously). Doing it twice would be astonishing.
