Cross grew up in Mustang, Oklahoma and was a three-time All-American at Oklahoma State. He won an NCAA title in 1989 and had in my opinion the best shoes in wrestling. The Adidas Kendall Cross Adistars were awesome! A gold plated version of them now sits on display in Heritage Hall.

His journey through the Olympic trials is one of the more talked about ones in the sport of wrestling. In the process he took out famed former Iowa wrestler, and now assistant coach Terry Brands
