Pokes in the Pros
Alex Dieringer Wins Gold Medal at Dan Kolov in Bulgaria, Jordan Oliver Takes Home Silver
A couple of former Pokes medaled in Bulgaria.
Former OSU wrestlers Jordan Oliver and Alex Dieringer went to Ruse, Bulgaria to wrestle in the Dan Kolov Memorial this weekend. Dieringer walked away with a gold and Oliver a silver. Here’s how it all went down.
Dieringer pretty much rolled through 79 KG with very little resistance here. He picked up first-period tech falls in every single match except for one! In the one he didn’t get a tech in he won 5-1 over a U23 World Champion.

In the finals he tech’d his opponent in just 1:47. You can watch the full match here.
Jordan Oliver started wrestling on the day of Alex Dieringer’s final. He won a tight one over Agustin Destribats of Argentina 3-3 to start off the tournament, then got in a pretty good groove and took out two Americans comfortably to make the semifinal. In the semifinal he comfortably picked apart his Turkish opponent.
In the final he fell to a pretty decorated wrestler in Bajrang Punia of India.
