VIDEO: Ramon Richards Intercepts Texans in Final Preseason Game
Ramon logged his first career INT in the preseason on Thursday.
Ramon Richards made a convincing final case that he should be among the 53 men named to the Los Angeles Rams’ final roster later this week.
The former OSU product shined in the final game of the preseason on Thursday by doing what he does so well — flying all over the field and ball-hawking. As usual, he found himself in just the right place at just the right time on one play in the third quarter, intercepting Texans QB Joe Webb and returning it all the way to the 41.

Richards put up a pretty beefy stat line on the night that could go a long ways towards helping him earn a spot on the roster. In addition to the INT, which he returned for 27 yards, he also recorded two tackles and a pass deflection.
As for his former teammate, Kevin Peterson, the Rams could be eyeing him as one of their final cornerbacks — but it could come at the expense of Richards. As blog Downtown Rams noted recently, “Richards will likely have to prove to the Los Angeles Rams that they should keep six cornerbacks.” Five are already set in stone, and a sixth — if they choose to carry it — could go to Peterson and not Richards.
Nonetheless, Richards and Peterson have shown they belong in the NFL this preseason. Whether they make the game roster or not, they could be candidates to play on the practice squad this season.
