Mike Gundy the 13th-Highest Paid Coach in College Football This Season
Gundy is pulling in the third highest salary in the Big 12.
As one of the longest-tenured coaches in college football, Mike Gundy is being compensated accordingly.
In USA Today’s annual release of the coaching salary database, Gundy ranks 13th among all college football coaches in 2019 salary.
The numbers: a $5.125 million base salary, $62,500 in bonuses, and the real kicker: a $16.632 million dollar buyout. That’s a big number, but only three coaches who rank above him in total 2019 salary — Jim Harbaugh, Dan Mullen and James Franklin — have a lower buyout number. (Jimbo Fisher’s buyout number at Texas A&M is more than $60M!)
The $5.125 salary for 2019 makes him the third highest-paid coach in the Big 12 this season behind Tom Herman and Lincoln Riley.
