How to Access The Chamber? And, uh, What Is It?

And some thoughts after shutting down the comments.

That title sounds like the Cliff’s Notes to a Harry Potter book, but it’s not. The Chamber is our primary place for community. A place to riff on all things Boone (and here at PFB, there are many things Boone), holler about gray as an official school color (it is) and hold vigils in gratefulness for Mike Holder’s willingness to pull the trigger on an unknown former SFA assistant basketball coach.

Today’s threads: Thoughts on cord cutting, podcast questions for me and Carson when we tape later, updates on a ? shirt we have coming out and (of course) moar Cade. That’s just a sampling on a random Monday morning.

We are working on making The Chamber more accessible and more at the forefront of our website overall, but until then, I want to address a few things based on emails and DMs I’ve gotten over the last few days since we closed our comments section.

Signing up for The Chamber is free: It does not cost any money. There is a premium section of The Chamber where me and the other Kyles and Marshall hang out and answer questions (that costs $80/year). But we pop our heads into all parts of The Chamber most of the time. You can sign up for free right here.

We have a daily articles thread (here is today’s): You can comment on today’s articles there. But we also have a lot more than that. Sometimes we felt as if the comments section terminated on itself and didn’t lead to other convos. Now, you might be commenting on an article and see something on Cade or Bryce or Gundy or whatever. Also: We hear your thoughts on individual article threads instead of one daily thread. We are discussing that and what it might look like. All of this is fluid and will evolve as we go.

This is not our attempt to flex: We actually want to hear what you have to say. We would just rather do it in a more controlled, less toxic environment. We believe The Chamber is that environment. Is this self-serving? Of course it it is! The more people are in The Chamber the more conversations are started the more time people spend there the more people get interested in PFB+. So yes, but it’s also — we think — better for our community overall. Or it has been so far. Part of that is because Discourse > Disqus, but also because now everyone is hanging out in one place.

You can put it on your phone home screen for easy access: Three steps here.

1. Go to The Chamber and click the button at the bottom of Safari (iPhone).
2. Click add to home screen.
3. Add to home screen and use daily hourly.

So yes, that’s what The Chamber is and how you access it. Feel free to reach out to us with questions if you have them at pistolsfiringblog at gmail dot com.
