Kolby Harvell-Peel Earns Consecutive Big 12 Player of the Week Honors
KHP making his case for an all-conference selection.
At some point during the game on Saturday, I somewhat jokingly asked Kyle Porter if we could start printing up posters because I needed one of Kolby Harvell-Peel for my office. Some folks at the Big 12 league office are also fans, it appears.
Harvell-Peel was named as the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week for the second week in a row, this time for his big performance in the Cowboys’ 31-13 win over Kansas.
Against the Jayhawks, KHP grabbed two interceptions (for the second week in a row!), recorded three tackles and added a QB hurry.
He has a knack for being in the right place at the right time.
And that’s just a continuation to what has been an impressive and historic run since around the midway point of the season.
Mike Gundy talked about his sophomore safety’s impressive play on Monday.
“I had caller this morning on my Big 12 call and talked about all-conference,” said Gundy. “I don’t think now with his numbers that’s any question. I think he may have even more than that with the numbers he’s got. It’s pretty phenomenal with the position he plays. We’re proud of him. He’s worked hard.”
Harvell-Peel currently ranked T-3rd in the nation in passes defended with 16 and his 11 pass breakups is one away from a top 10 season ever at OSU. His five interceptions currently rank second in the Big 12 and T-4th nationally.
This is Harvell-Peel’s third POW award and the ninth for Oklahoma State this season.
