The Cowboys found themselves averaging the sixth nationally behind Ohio State, Rutgers, Iowa State, Penn State, and Iowa. They were ahead of Minnesota, Arizona State, Fresno State, and Lehigh, which rounded out the rest of the top 10.
Iowa smashed historic attendance records with their crowds this year which included Oklahoma State and even helped lift Iowa State into the top three with their crowd in Ames of 11,238.
Even though Oklahoma State finished sixth nationally in average they had an aggregate of 33,238 which was fourth nationally just behind Iowa, Penn State, and Iowa State.
It’s of note that one of Oklahoma State’s biggest draws is typically the Iowa dual, which was wrestled on the road this season, and even though OSU was outpaced by some of the other national programs they still finished with their third-highest average since 2006.
Here is a chart of Oklahoma State wrestling attendance since OSU’s last NCAA title in 2006.
