Muskogee Safety Ty Williams Commits to OSU, Becoming Second Pledge in 2021
OSU gets its second commit of 2021 — and second on D.
The second commitment of Oklahoma State’s 2021 class is in.
On Sunday, in-state safety standout Ty Williams, a 6-foot-1, 186-pound prospect from Muskogee, joined linebacker Kolbe Fields as part of OSU’s upcoming recruiting class. He’s the second commitment of the cycle along with Fields and second defensive player to join the fold.
Williams was offered by OSU last month and wasted little time with his decision-making process. Despite garnering offers from Tennessee, Texas Tech, Nebraska and Arkansas since the OSU offer, he picked the Cowboys with more than a dozen other options to choose from. Iowa State, Missouri and Kansas were among those who had offered as well.
Williams fits the mold of an OSU target at safety not just because of the size, but also because of his versatility. At Muskogee he’s a three-sport athlete who plays football, basketball and wrestles. He brought down nine interceptions in 10 games last season on the back end of Muskogee’s defense.
The commitment of Williams gives OSU a bump up to No. 81 in the national recruiting rankings but keeps OSU’s class at 10th overall in the Big 12.
