Midwest City Product Makale Smith Commits to Oklahoma State
OSU snags another in-state commitment.
Mike Gundy went back to his old stomping grounds to snag the Cowboys’ most recent pledge.
Makale Smith announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Sunday. Out of Midwest City, Smith is a 6-foot, 165-pound athlete. OSU was just his second Division-I offer, coming back in April. Smith is an under-the-radar guy, as he announced a Central Oklahoma offer the same day as his OSU one.

Since that OSU offer, Smith has received offers from Oregon State and New Mexico, but the Cowboys were able to lock him down before the secret got out.
Smith is listed as an athlete, as he played wide receiver, corner and returned kicks for the Bombers as a junior last season. He also plays basketball for Midwest City. Although he is listed as an athlete, it’s likely he’ll be a defensive back at OSU. He has solid ball skills for the position, resulting in five interceptions for him this past season.
Midwest City finished its 2019 campaign just 4-7, but the Bombers did make the 6A-II playoffs, where Smith had an interception against eventual state champs Bixby.
Smith is listed as a three-star prospect, according to 247Sports. The service currently lists him as the No. 105 athlete in the 2021 class and the No. 20 prospect from Oklahoma.
He is the fourth Oklahoman to commit to the Pokes in the 2021 cycle, joining Collin Oliver (Edmond-Santa Fe), Ty Williams (Muskogee) and Jaden Bray (Norman).
