Tyron Johnson, James Washington Find the End Zone
These former teammates still know how to find the end zone.
We’ll get back to our regularly scheduled NFL update next week, but I wanted to highlight a pair of former Cowboy receivers who made big plays, one last Sunday and the other on Thursday night to kick off the NFL’s Week 15.
Tyron Johnson: Deep Ball Magnet
The Chargers’ exciting rookie QB Justin Herbert made history during LA’s Thursday-night tilt with the Las Vegas Raiders, tying an NFL record for the most passing touchdowns in a rookie season. On the other side of that 26-yard connection was the Tyron.
That pushes Tyron’s stat line to 15 receptions for 337 yards and three TDs. He’s averaging a ridiculous 22.5 yards per reception, which would lead the NFL if he had enough catches to qualify.
Johnson’s Chargers earned the 30-27 overtime win over the Raiders. Los Angeles has a home game against Denver and a road trip to Kansas City remaining on their 2020 slate. Don’t be surprised to see another big play or two from No. 83.
Washington Heating Up
Not to be outdone, Tyron’s former fellow #Freak, James Washington scored his fifth TD of the year and second in as many weeks.
Washington’s Steelers currently sit at No. 2 in the AFC playoff race at 11-2 with three games remaining. Washington probably won’t reach last year’s total of 735 receiving yards, but his five 2020 TDs is already a career high.
