Picks, Point Spread, Preview: What to Know for OSU vs. West Virginia
A preview of what’s ahead on Monday night.
After a massive road win over No. 13 Texas Tech on Saturday, Oklahoma State on Monday looks to keep its momentum alive with a clash against No. 9 West Virginia inside Gallagher-Iba.
The Mountaineers are trending the opposite direction as OSU after losses in two of their last three games, with a loss on the road Saturday to Oklahoma. It could be a great spot for the Pokes as they look to get to .500 in league play for the first time since early 2019.
Here’s what you need to know for the game.
Picks
• Spread (KenPom): West Virginia -1
Marshall Scott: A week ago this looked like a rough matchup for Oklahoma State, but Oscar Tschiebwe has since left the Mountaineers. All of a sudden this looks doable for the Pokes. Derek Culver still has the ability to grab 20 rebounds in this game, but at least WVU doesn’t have two guys who will grab 20 boards. I think Cade Cunningham and Isaac Likekele get it done against Bob Huggins’ Mountaineers.
Pick: Oklahoma State 74, West Virginia 70
Kyle Cox: I’ve been saying that the Cowboys’ shooting slump would end at some point but was a little surprised to see it against a legit defense like Tech’s. I think the added confidence — and firepower from Bryce Williams out of the gate — sets the Cowboys up for success. Now if Cade can shake his slump, the Cowboys suddenly become a scary offense to defend, especially for a shorthanded Mountaineers squad.
Pick: Oklahoma State 75, West Virginia 69
Kyle Boone: This’ll be a guaranteed sweat. Think it’s a very good matchup that looks a lot more manageable for OSU after star sophomore Oscar Tshiebwe opted to step away from West Virginia earlier this week. That, to me, makes me think this game will be decided between who can really step up in the backcourt. And I like OSU’s chances quite a lot there.
Pick: Oklahoma State 69, West Virginia 66
