Devin Harper Announces Return for Sixth Season
The Cowboys’ defense is getting deeper.
At one point, linebacker was a question mark for the Cowboys heading into the 2021 season — it isn’t any more.
In a video posted to Instagram, Devin Harper announced a return to Stillwater for what will be a sixth season on campus, made possible by the NCAA’s pandemic waiver. Harper will likely be the starter in Amen Ogbongbemiga’s vacant spot next to Malcolm Rodriguez, who announced his return for a fifth year before the Cheez-It Bowl.
Harper recorded 37 tackles this past season including 5.5 tackles for loss and two sacks. He also had an interception against Kansas.
Harper entered OSU with the 2016 recruiting class. He was a three-star prospect from Tennessee. He redshirted in 2016 before contributing for the Cowboys the next four seasons.
He has a brother, Thomas Harper, who is a defensive back for the Cowboys.
In his career, Devin Harper has 120 tackles, 15.5 tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks and two interceptions.
The Cowboys’ defense looks stacked heading into next season with Harper, Rodriguez, Tre Sterling and Kolby Harvell-Peel all returning.
