OSU Falls Out of AP Top 25 Rankings After One Week
OSU’s stay in the AP poll lasted just one week.
Oklahoma State’s stay inside the top 25 of the AP rankings lasted just one week.
After surfacing at No. 23 last week — the first ranking for the program since the Travis Ford era — the Cowboys on Monday ducked out altogether.
They lead the country in teams receiving votes that aren’t ranked, so if rankings extended beyond 25, they’d be ranked 26th. So a minor consolation. They also held steady at No. 22 in the Coaches Poll.
The 78-66 loss to Kansas last week did the damage enough to make OSU pay in the AP rankings, however, despite wins over Texas and Kansas State sandwiched betweeen it.
Wins over its next two opponents would almost certainly get OSU back into favor with AP voters, but they won’t come easy. OSU faces Iowa State on Tuesday (kinda easy) and Baylor in Waco on Saturday (arguably the hardest challenge in college hoops). And with Texas Tech and OU also left on the schedule to end the regular season, it may be an uphill climb to get back in the rankings before postseason play.
