Five-star Recruit Shaedon Sharpe Names OSU in Final Five
The Pokes are battling Kentucky, Arizona, Kansas and the G League.
Five-star prospect Shaedon Sharpe, a 6-foot-4 shooting guard ranked as the No. 6 overall prospect in the 2022 class according to the 247Sports Composite, trimmed his list from 10 to five on Sunday. OSU was one of the four schools that made the cut; he’s also considering turning pro and signing with the G League Ignite program.
Kentucky, Kansas and Arizona were the other three schools he named. In the cut he eliminated Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, USC and Alabama.
Sharpe has been one of the fastest-rising prospects in the high school ranks over the last year. He led the EYBL in points scored this summer averaging 22.6 points per game while adding 5.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 12 outings, flashing elite shot-making capability that could make him a lottery pick in the near future.
OSU offered Sharpe a scholarship at the end of June and things seem to have progressed quickly there — he named OSU in his top 10 a month later and now, less than two months after the offer, has OSU in his final five. He’s expected to make an official visit to OSU on Sept. 10, according to ESPN, who adds he also plans to make visits to Kansas and Arizona before a final decision. He already visited Kentucky.
An Arizona native, Sharpe’s crystal ball currently reads 100% in favor of the Wildcats — just not of his homestate Arizona team. All seven predictions are Kentucky as of now with insiders from Arizona, Duke, Kentucky and even nationally expecting UK to be the pick.
