Flanagan, Evers to Miss Oklahoma State’s Game against Arkansas-Pine Bluff
Some dinged up Pokes won’t play against the Golden Lions.
The Cowboys will be without some defensive contributors against the Golden Lions on Saturday.
Oklahoma State hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff at 6 p.m. in Boone Pickens Stadium, but the Cowboys will be without defensive starters Sean Michael Flanagan and Brendon Evers, according to Dave Hunziker, both missing the game with shoulder injuries. Hunziker also reports that Tyren Irby will miss the game and that starting center Preston Wilson is questionable. None of the injuries are presumed serious, according to Hunziker.
Splitting time at safety with Kendal Daniels, Flanagan started the Cowboys’ first two games where he has eight total tackles and a pass breakup. In his stead, expect a heavy dose of Daniels to start Saturday’s contest. A highly touted redshirt freshman, Daniels has 13 tackles this season, a tackle for loss and an interception.
A 6-foot-2, 295-pound defensive tackle, Evers has two tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and a quarterback hurry on the season. Sione Asi, Samuela Tuihalamaka, Collin Clay and Tyler Lacy will likely get the early snaps at defensive tackle.
Wilson transitioned to center this offseason for OSU and has played 165 snaps, according to PFF. If Wilson doesn’t play, Joe Michalski is listed as the Cowboys’ backup center. Michalski has played 73 snaps this season.
Hunziker didn’t provide updates for wide reiver Jaden Bray or Cowboy back Blaine Green, but — given the opponent — it would be hard to imagine either would be rushed back.
There was also no word on Texas A&M transfer running back Deondre Jackson. Jackson, who has dealt with transcript issues, put out a somewhat cryptic tweet Saturday.
