UTEP Transfer Safety Kobe Hylton Commits to Oklahoma State

Kobe Hylton was one of the first players Oklahoma State offered when the transfer portal opened, and now the former Miner will be a Cowboy.

Hylton, a safety from UTEP, announced his commitment to the Cowboys on Saturday. He recorded 146 tackles, 10.5 tackles for loss, 0.5 sacks, seven pass breakups, a forced fumble and four fumble recoveries in the past two seasons with the Miners. Hylton also announced portal offers to Louisiana Tech, Old Dominion, Sam Houston and Akron. He took a visit to Stillwater this week before making his announcement.

Listed at 6-foot, 205 pounds, Hylton has earned All-Conference USA Honorable Mention accolades the past two seasons. He had 54 tackles, four PBUs, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in 2023. According to PFF, Hylton allowed only 10 catches for 171 yards and a touchdown this past season. His best game of the season, according to PFF, came against Arizona, where he earned an 86.3 grade, making eight tackles and not allowing a reception.

As a sophomore in 2022, Hylton was UTEP’s third-leading tackler with 92 total tackles — 10 of which were for loss.

This won’t be Hylton’s first time playing in Oklahoma. He spent his freshman year at NEO, recording 19 tackles, an interception and a forced fumble in six games with the Noresmen. From there, Hylton spent a season at Louisiana, where he redshirted before heading to El Paso. He hails from Snellville, Georgia.

The Cowboys lost two safeties to the portal since it opened in Lardarius Webb Jr. and Nick Session.
