Weather, Travel Issues Delay Oklahoma State Basketball’s Tip in Ames
The Cowboys have had quite the travel day.
The Oklahoma State basketball team on Tuesday had to fly to Lubbock the day of its game against Texas Tech, but the Cowboys had an even tougher time getting to Ames on Saturday.
Oklahoma State’s tip against the Cyclones has been delayed to 7:15 p.m. on account of the travel issues the Cowboys have faced. Originally scheduled to air on ESPN2, the game has been moved to ESPN+.
Mike Boynton documented the Cowboys’ travel struggles on X on Saturday. Boynton said the Cowboys couldn’t travel Friday because of weather in Des Moines, so the team bussed to Oklahoma City at 6 a.m. Saturday. But, the plane was grounded for maintenance. From there, the Cowboys were told to get to Norman to get on a different plane, but that plane couldn’t get deiced. So the team stayed in OKC, and, according to the OSU Basketball X account, finally left for Iowa about 1:50 p.m. and landed about 3 p.m. Now the Pokes have to bus from Des Moines to Ames — about an hour drive.
Safety was the most important thing. The Cowboys made it. But, boy, going straight from a plane to a bus to the hardwood is going to supply some extra adversity the Cowboys probably didn’t need to face, as they enter this meeting with the Cyclones at 0-2 in Big 12 play.
