OSU Wrestling: Cowboys Second in Latest Rankings
Cowboys up a spot.
The Cowboys can’t get much higher.
Oklahoma State went up one spot to No. 2 in the latest NWCA coaches poll that was released Tuesday. It’s OSU’s highest ranking since finishing the 2018-19 season at No. 2.
OSU and No. 1 Penn State are the only unbeaten teams left in the country. The Nittany Lions have been firmly on top all season, meaning the Cowboys will most likely stay put at their highest ranking in four seasons.
The Cowboys moved up after beating then-No. 5 Missouri 24-10 on Sunday and No. 24 Arizona State 28-9 on Friday. OSU also benefitted from No. 2 Iowa losing its first dual of the season on Sunday to No. 12 Michigan.
The Hawkeyes, still ranked third, will be in Stillwater on Feb. 25 for OSU’s regular-season finale. Beating a top-five Iowa would give the Cowboys their fourth win of the season over an opponent ranked inside the top five. That would be the most top-five wins for an OSU team since the 2004-05 season.
Before OSU and Iowa clash inside Gallagher-Iba Arena, though, the Cowboys will host No. 12 South Dakota State on Saturday and No. 23 Oklahoma on Feb. 18. OSU will finish the season against 11 straight ranked opponents.
Here’s a look at the full rankings, with teams OSU has beaten in bold.
