Former Cowboy Eric Dailey Jr. Commits to UCLA

Eric Dailey Jr. is the first player from this past season’s Oklahoma State basketball roster to find a second home after Stillwater.

Dailey, a freshman, announced Tuesday that he committed to UCLA with three years of eligibility remaining. He reportedly entered the transfer portal on March 29 after only one year at OSU. His move into the portal came about two weeks after OSU fired coach Mike Boynton, who recruited Dailey to Stillwater.

While at OSU, Dailey averaged 9.3 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists a game. After starting early in the season, he spent most of 2023-24 as the Cowboys’ sixth man. Dailey was an explosive asset coming off the bench, though, scoring in double figures 15 times during his freshman campaign.

At 6-foot-8 and 230 pounds, Dailey was a consensus four-star power forward prospect out of IMG Academy in Florida, where he took a postgrad year after initially being a part of the 2022 recruiting class. He held plethora offers then, including from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Iowa State, Michigan, TCU, Tennessee, Texas, Texas A&M and others.

Dailey was one of five Cowboys from this past season’s team to enter the transfer portal, including Brandon Garrison, Justin McBride, Javon Small and Quion Williams. That number gives new OSU basketball coach Steve Lutz nine scholarships to work with as he assembles his first Cowboy roster.
