OSU Baseball: Arkansas Transfer Jayson Jones Commits to Cowboys

Josh Holliday is adding an SEC talent to his roster.

Arkansas transfer Jayson Jones announced Wednesday that he committed to Oklahoma State out of the transfer portal. Just completing his sophomore season, Jones should have two years of eligibility left.

Jones started 19 games in the outfield for the Razorbacks this past season. He was everywhere as a freshman in 2023, though, getting time at first base, third base and designated hitter. This season, Jones hit only .194 in 72 at-bats. He’s a career .195 hitter. That lack of production at the plate is what had Jones in and out of the lineup after playing in 23 games this season.

The promise is there, though, for the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Jones, who was the No. 8 high school prospect in the 2022 class, according to Baseball America.

The Cowboys have nabbed four players from the portal so far, with Jones being the first position player. Pitchers Mario Pesca, Tommy Allman and Harrison Bodendorf have also committed.
