Oklahoma State Quarterback Alan Bowman on Manning Award Watch List
It’s the third watch list with Bowman’s name on it.
Oklahoma State quarterback Alan Bowman continues to pop up on preseason watch lists for awards.
On Thursday, Bowman was included on the preseason watch list for the Manning Award, which honors the top quarterback in college football and, unlike most season awards, factors in players’ performances during the postseason. The voting panel for the award includes each of the Mannings and national media.
Bowman, entering his seventh season, has now been featured on watch lists for the AllState Wuerffel Trophy and Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award this offseason. Bowman goes into his (presumed) final season as the Cowboys’ QB1 after beginning last year in the midst of a three-quarterback rotation. After winning the starting job Week 4 last season, Bowman threw for 3,460 yards and 15 touchdowns.
Factoring in postseason performance could benefit Bowman, especially if the Pokes make a run in the playoffs. Bowman had 402 passing yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Cowboys’ Texas Bowl victory over Texas A&M last year.
The watch list was compromised of 29 quarterbacks, including six from the Big 12, which was tied for the most representatives of any conference.
