OSU Soccer: Cowgirls Upset No. 6 Nebraska on Road in Season Opener
What a start for the Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls couldn’t have planned a better start to their 2024 season.
Oklahoma State started the season on the road Thursday night and beat No. 6 Nebraska 2-0. The last time OSU and Nebraska had met, the Cowgirls beat Nebraska in the Big 12 Championship in 2010.
Thursday’s contest was locked until Lexi Lee got past several Nebraska defenders and put the ball in to put the Cowgirls ahead 1-0 in the 66th minute. Laudan Wilson was credited with the assist after a long pass down the pitch.

Freshman Reganne Morris then found Adelhia Ghonda near the goal only minutes later. Ghonda then spun around a defender and put the ball in the back of the net to extend OSU’s lead to 2-0 in the 74th minute.

Despite the 2-0 shutout, Nebraska outshot OSU 22-13 in the match. Grace Gordon had four saves, though, to help secure the shutout. The Cowgirls also had more shots on goal, 5-4.
The Cowgirls will return to Stillwater next for their home opener against Oral Roberts at 7 p.m. Sunday at Neal Patterson Stadium.
