The Cowboys will give fans an early look at their new roster, and they’re doing it for a good cause.

Oklahoma State’s men’s basketball team will host SMU on Saturday, Oct. 26 in a charity scrimmage to raise funds and awareness for heart health. Tip-off time is yet to be announced.

“Heart disease and stroke are two of the leading killers worldwide and have impacted millions of families, including my own,” said OSU coach Steve Lutz in a press release. “We’re excited to give fans an early look at Cowboy Basketball while raising awareness and support for an important cause.”

The Cowboys and Mustangs haven’t squared off since 2011, when OSU won in double-overtime thanks to 27 points from Keiton Page. OSU last hosted SMU in 2005. OSU is 20-6 all-time in the series, which dates back to 1922 when the two schools were briefly Southwest Conference rivals. Of course, this matchup will just be for fun (and charity).

To that point, admission and parking is free, according to OSU, but volunteers from the Eddie Sutton Foundation will be on hand to take donations on behalf of the American Heart Association.

SMU is coming off a 20-13 season, its last in the American Athletic Conference. This scrimmage will help springboard the Mustangs into their inaugural season in the Atlantic Coast Conference. SMU joined the ACC this offseason along with Cal and Stanford. Former USC coach Andy Enfield took the reins of the Mustangs’ program this offseason.

The Cowboys’ season tips off Nov. 4 against Green Bay inside GIA.
