The Cowboys come out of a much-needed bye week looking to a spoil a party in Provo.

The last time Oklahoma State and BYU met, the Cowboys punched their ticket to Arlington while the Cougars finished their season on a five-game losing streak and missed the postseason. This time it’s the Pokes on the skid while BYU is 6-0 (already bowl eligible) and is one of the clubhouse leaders to compete for a Big 12 crown. The tables turned quickly, but the Cowboys would like to turn them again.

If Oklahoma State can convert the extended preparation time into some actual offensive production on the field, the Cowboys will have a chance to compete. If they come out the off week they way they went in — hapless on O and helpless on D — they may will further endanger the nation’s sixth-longest bowl streak.

So let’s see how the PFB staff sees this one playing out.

Marshall Scott

Score:  BYU 31, Oklahoma State 21

Game MVP: Garret Rangel

Uniform: Black (Patriot Pete)-White (Black)-Black

Thoughts: I think Garret Rangel is handed the keys to this offense mainly because I’m not sure you could throw Alan Bowman back out there after pulling him two of the past three games. We’ll see how different OSU looks coming out of this open week, but because of how the past three weeks have gone, I can’t pick the Pokes.

Kyle Cox

Score: BYU 35, Oklahoma State 21

Game MVP: Ollie Gordon

Uniform: Black (Cursive Cowboys)-White-Orange

Thoughts:  Maybe, just maybe, the long break allowed Gundy & Dunn & Co. the opportunity to figure out somethings in the run game. They’ve gotta get to run-blocking, they’ve gotta give their star involved and they’ve gotta keep from falling behind early and becoming one-dimensional. As of writing, we don’t know who will be taking snaps, but whoever it is needs to be able to sustain a drive or two early to give the run game a chance to find its footing.

Dekota Gregory

Score: BYU 38, Oklahoma State 24

Game MVP: De’Zhaun Stribling

Uniform: White (Cursive Cowboys)-White (Black)-Black

Thoughts: My predictions for the Cowboys won’t alter until I actually see change with my own eyes. I’m not saying I expect absolutely everything to be the same after a bye week, but I definitely don’t expect a 2023-type turnaround.
