One of the best pass rushers in Oklahoma State’s history is taking his next steps to prepare to play on Sundays.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl on Thursday announced that Collin Oliver accepted an invite to the event.

Oliver played in just two games this past season, as he suffered a lower body injury in the Cowboys’ 39-31 overtime win against Arkansas. The play he was injured on turned the tide of that game, as Oliver got in Razorback quarterback Taylen Green’s face as he was throwing a pass. The pass was off the mark and intercepted by Kale Smith, who returned it 73 yards for a touchdown, sparking the Cowboys’ comeback.

Because he played in just two games this season and with the extent of his injury, a redshirt was possible for Oliver. Assuming this is it for Oliver’s Cowboy career, he finishes having made 134 total tackles, 42 tackles for loss and 23.5 sacks in 43 career games. That sack total is good for fifth in program history.

A four-star recruit out of Edmond Santa Fe, Oliver made an instant impact upon arriving on campus in the Cowboys’ 2021 season. He had 11.5 sacks that season. Perhaps his most famous play of his career came during that freshman season when Oliver sacked Caleb Williams on a fourth down to ice Bedlam. He was a FWAA Freshman of the Year Award finalist that season, named to myriad freshman All-America teams and was unanimously selected as the Big 12’s defensive freshman of the year.

Oliver added another five sacks to his career tally in the Cowboys’ 2022 season before moving from defensive end to linebacker ahead of OSU’s 2023 season. Helping lead the Cowboys back to the Big 12 title game and another double-digit winning season, Oliver made a career-high 73 tackles in 2023 with 16 tackles for loss and six sacks. His teammates voted Oliver a team captain for the 2023 season.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl is one of the, if not the, most highly regarded college all-star games. It takes place annually in Mobile, Alabama. The game this season is set for 1:30 p.m. Feb. 1 and will be televised on the NFL Network. He won’t be the first Cowboy to participate in the festivities. Over the years, names like Tyler Lacy, Jason Taylor II, Tylan Wallace, Mason Rudolph, James Washington, Brandon Weeden, Kendall Hunter, Zac Robinson and many, many more Cowboys have gone this route.
