LIVE UPDATES

FINAL: Oklahoma State 48, Texas Tech 56

Maealiuaki Smith’s big first start ends with a game-sealing interception with seven seconds to go.

Drive Recap: OSU 48, Tech 56

The Cowboys take over at the 35 with 13 seconds left.

And after offsetting penalties on the kick mean the Red Raiders will rekick. Kyler Pearson had a big return so that is a net loss for OSU.

Super senior Collin Clay got rolled up with an apparent leg injury and had to leave. The Cowboys forced a third-and-long but Behren Morton broke loose on a designed run to get the first down. OSU did end up getting a stop but there is only 22 seconds on the clock at the time of the punt.

Drive Recap: OSU 48, Tech 56

There’s some fight. The Cowboys move 69 yards in 126 seconds to pull within eight. Logan Ward’s PAT was blocked. OSU has 2:35 left so a stop on this series is a must.

Drive Recap: OSU 42, Tech 56

And just like that. Another snap goes into orbit and Tech recovers it for a TD. Then Ollie lets his emotions get the best of him, tries to rip the ball away after it was clearly down and a score and ends up throwing punch. He’s fortunate to not get tossed. Pokes now down two scores with just over four minutes to go.

Drive Recap: OSU 42, Tech 49

There is no stopping these offenses. The Cowboys get a chance to answer with just over six minutes left.

Freshmen killing it on Senior Day. Rodney Fields Jr. caps that drive with a 19-yard touchdown and

The home crowd gets silenced as soon as it got riled up. Tech scored a touchdown on a 69-yard run on fourth-and-1.

Drive Recap: OSU 35, Tech 35

And Maealiuaki Smith logs his first career TD throw to De’Zhaun Stribling and we’re all knotted up at 35. Stribling gets a flag for booting the ball up into the hungry home crowd. Those yards will be applied to the kickoff.

This is looking more and more like an old school OSU-Tech matchup.

Drive Recap: OSU 28, Tech 35

The Cowboys’ defense got a stop? The Cowboys’ defense got a stop.

Drive Recap: OSU 28, Tech 35

The Cowboys’ drive stalls with a dinged 42-yard field goal attempt. Feels like a pair of huge misses on these last two drives. Hopefully they’ll have a chance to overcome them.

Drive Recap: OSU 28, Tech 35

So, a head-scratching onside kick (in the third quarter) backfires on the Cowboys and Tech scores a touchdown. Not much else to say about that.

Drive Recap: OSU 28, Tech 28

The Cowboys appear to have an offense. Maealiuaki Smith capped that drive with a stiff arm leading to his first career rushing TD. That’s four consecutive TD drives from both teams.

Drive Recap: OSU 21, Tech 28

Tech answers again with its own touchdown drive. Behren Morton is over 300 yards and four TD throws early in the third quarter.

Drive Recap: OSU 21, Tech 21

The Cowboys come out of the break swinging. Ollie Gordon had his mitts all over this drive with a catch and three carries on the five-play, 75-yard possession that ended with his third rushing TD.

Drive Recap: OSU 14, Tech 21

The Raiders answer with a 12-play, 92-yard touchdown drive ending with five seconds left in the half. Pokes get the ball to start the third.

Drive Recap: OSU 14, Tech 14

And just like that, with Ollie Gordon taking snaps, the Cowboys cap that drive with an equalizing touchdown drive.

Oh snap, an Ollie Gordon direct snap, pitch back and No. Zero finds Rashod Owens for 27 yards.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, Tech 14

Parker Robertson pays it off by picking off Behren Morton for the first turnover of the game. Pokes pick up at the Tech 45.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, Tech 14

The home crowd did not like OSU’s punting on fourth-and-2 at the 50.

Drive Recap: OSU 7, Tech 14

The Cowboys get on the board thanks to a 68-yard TD run by Ollie Gordon.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, Tech 14

Each team trades a three-and-out and the Cowboys get pinned back in their own territory, starting at their own nine.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, Tech 14

The Cowboys’ defense showed a bit more resistance with a pair of sacks by Xavier Ross and then Jeff Roberson, but the Red Raiders are 3-for-4 on third downs and perfect on fourth downs in two drives. And with four minutes in the opening period, OSU is already down two TDs.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, Tech 7

That’s two nice throws for Smith, offset by two fumbled handoffs/snaps… OSU falls on both of them. The loss on the second one was too far to overcome. Pokes punt, but we saw some light from the offense.

Maealiuaki Smith. If you haven’t learned how to spell it yet, start practicing.

Drive Recap: OSU 0, Tech 7

The broadcast crew pointed out that OSU’s defense has given up an opening drive score in six of last seven games. That’s probably why Tech wanted the ball. In less than a minute and a half, OSU is behind a touchdown. Are the wheels already rattling after one drive?

I can see why Tech wanted the ball. The Red Raiders going down the field on the first three plays, the first two for chunk yardage.

The Red Raiders win the toss and want the ball. The opening kickoff gets whistled dead for some reason and we’re going for it again. The second try gets returned to the 25 and we’re underway.

The Cowboys’ shot at extending their bowl streak vaporized with their loss in Fort Worth two weeks ago, but they can still try to salvage Senior Day. In town to spoil the occasion — as well as bolster their own postseason standing — are the 6-2 Red Raiders.

Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech was purported as a possible new rivalry in the post-Bedlam Big 12. While the stakes may not be as high as Cowboys fans would like, there is still a little self respect left on the line and, as we just learned, a new starter at QB. So maybe the home crowd will view this game through the lens of the future. For many of the senior-laden OSU roster, this will be their final rodeo inside BPS. So that’s plenty to fight for.
