Hauss Hejny’s relationship with the Cowboys’ new offensive staff goes beyond sharing a team with new OSU offensive coordinator Doug Meacham this past season.

A 6-foot, 195-pound quarterback, Hejny officially announced his commitment to Oklahoma State on Friday, transferring to Stillwater from TCU. Meacham was the Horned Frogs’ inside receivers coach in Hejny’s freshman season, but Hejny told PFB on Saturday afternoon that his relationship with Meacham didn’t start in Fort Worth. Hejny started going to Aledo High School (Texas) as a sophomore, and that’s where that familiarity started.

“Coach Meacham was really good buddies with all the guys that are on the Aledo coaching staff there,” Hejny said. “The guys on my high school coaching staff have been there for quite a few years, so Coach Meacham always came over and gave our offensive coaches a lot of offensive ideas. I ran a lot of Meacham’s plays while I was in high school because he had so much influence on us.

“So, I got to know Coach Meacham when I was in high school, and then, furthermore, got to TCU and you’re at the football facility a lot when you’re playing. So just being around Coach Meacham in walkthroughs, at practice and sitting in the pad (TCU’s Performance Athletic Dining) eating lunch and breakfast, I got to spend a lot of time around Coach Meacham. We always saw eye to eye on a lot of things.”
